Health, Hygiene and their types

A healthy life is a dream of each individual. World Health Organization declared 7th April as World Health Day. For being healthy we need to know the actual meaning of health & hygiene.


Health -

              According to WHO, "health is a complete physical ,mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease." As per the definition, a person can not be said to be healthy merely by a disease-free condition. He\she should be physical as well as mental healthy. This demands hygienic condition. Health and hygiene are two correlated terms.


Hygiene -

           Hygiene can be defined as the practice of certain habits to maintain a good health. It can be at the personal level ( personal hygiene ) and the community level ( social hygiene ).

Personal hygiene :

                        Personal hygiene includes cleanliness, proper rest, physical exercise, sleep and other habits like avoiding smoking, drinking alcohol, drugs etc.

Social hygiene :

                     Society includes the surrounding we live and other public place. A good environment has a great impact on the physical and mental condition of an individual. Social hygiene is as important as physical hygiene.
